Shift I
INAUGURATION

The activities of the LPLF for the academic year 2014-15 were inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Antony Pancras, The Chief Editor of the globally renowned catholic magazine, the New Leader. He is an orator par excellence who has delivered several motivational lectures on Self-Esteem, Spiritual Growth, Right Motivation, Values of Life and related topics. During the Inaugural Ceremony held on 29th Septmber 2014, the new office bearers were introduced and assumed office. Rev. Dr. Albert William, SJ, Secretary, Loyola College graced the occasion and offered his felicitations and laid emphasis on the essentiality of ethical values in life. While delivering his Inaugural address titled “ Say YES for LIFE ”, the Chief Guest brought out the criminality involved in the gruesome act called abortion through his inspiring lecture supported by pictures and a documentary. At the end, he administerd an oath against abortion and anti-life activities, to all the LPLF members.  

MY FLAG – MY INDIA
Pro-lifers of our college actively involved themselves in huge numbers in the My Flag – My India event held at the YMCA grounds, Chennai on December 7th, 2014 in which India set a new world record for the largest human flag formation with over 50,000 volunteers breaking the previous record held by Pakistan. About 1.5 lakh youth volunteers participated in the event in which Actor Sarath Kumar, Mr. Isak Nazar, Governor, Rotary District 3230 and many other dignitaries were present. Guinness official Syeda Subasi presented the certificate validating the attempt. She described the effort as a 'historic moment' for India and lauded the participants for their enthusiasm.  

SOCCER FOR CHILD RIGHTS
The LPLF was officially invited to be a part of the Soccer for Child Rights Tournament organized by Child Rights and You (CRY) on 24th of January 2015. The prolifers accepting the invitation geared up to contribute significantly during this event with a cause. The Pro-life members of Shift I were given orientation on the eve of the event, that is, on 23rd of January in the Physics Smart Class Room wherein they were divided into various groups for effective volunteering. In all, about 80 students volunteered for the event and made it a grand success. Besides earning certificates, they also gained knowledge on Child Rights and Soccer itself! The Tournaments were declared open by Mayor Saidai Duraisamy at the YMCA ground in Nandanam on the occasion of the National Girl Child Day. Corporate giants such as HDFC Bank, Vodafone, Trends-in-Vogue, Wabag, Ford, Technip, Ramco Systems, Infosys and iNautix and a group from the Slum Children Sports Talent Education Development Society (SCSTEDS) of Vyasarpadi fought it out with vigor and sportive spirit. In the finals, SCSTEDS beat HDFC in a nail-biting finish and bagged an attractive cash prize worth Rs. 25,000/-.

PROFEST
The mega event of the LPLF, PROFEST '15 was held on 1st March 2015 at the Sauliere Hall. PROFEST is a platform where young and enthusiastic prolifers showcase their talents through the various competitions organized on on themes related to pro-life. This year members actively participated in events such as essay-writing, poem writing and pencil sketching.

VALEDICTORY
The Valedictory ceremony, which is the culmination of the activities of the LPLF for the academic year 2014-15 was held on the same day. Dr. Samuel Jeyaseelan SJ, Director, Loyola Hostel, Loyola College was the Chief Guest and Prof. Francis, Department of English was the guest of honour.

The Chief Guest in his valedictory address appreciated the excellent organization of the event and appealed to the members to take forward the values imbibed by them by being part of the LPLF, in every aspect of their life. Dr. J. Merline Shyla, the Faculty Advisor lauded the meticulous execution of the event by the office bearers and their efficient team of volunteers. A prolifer once is a prolifer always, she said during her address and further requested the members to be ambassadors of the pro-life mission wherever they go even after stepping out of the portals of Loyola College.

The prizes and certificates of appreciation for the winners of the PROFEST competitions were given away by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour and the program concluded with the National Anthem.

Shift II

INAUGURATION OF THE CLUB FOLLOWED BY A TALK ( 25/09/2014)

The Inaugural function of Loyola Pro-Life Forum (LPLF) was held on 25th September 2014 between 12 and 1.30 pm in the YD Hall. The chief guest of the function was Rev.Fr.Antony Pancras, Chief Editor, The New Leader. The guest of honour was Rev.Fr.Dr.Albert William, Secretary, Loyola College. The Welcome address was given by Prof.S.Venkata lakshmi, LPLF (Shift II) club advisor. Fr.Secretary emphasised about the importance of life to the club members. The dynamics of prolife and the introduction of office bearers were done by Dr.Merline Shyla, LPLF (Shift I) club advisor. An inspiring talk on “SAY YES TO LIFE” was given by the chief guest Rev.Fr.Antony Pancras. The session focused on the importance and protection of the girl child. The talk also emphasised on the power of women in this world and how this world would be without women. The address was over by oath taking by all the staff and the students.

MY FLAG MY INDIA ( 07/12/2014)
About 50000 people joined together to form the world's largest human Indian flag to enter the Guinness World Records at the My Flag My India event. Over 140 students from Prolife forum took part in the event and received Guinness World Record Certificates.  

SOCCER FOR CHILD RIGHTS ( 23/01/2015 and 24/01/2015)

The Soccer for Children Rights tournament was organised by Child Rights and You (CRY) on 24/01/2015 in which Loyola Pro-Life Forum was officially called for volunteering the event. LPLF accepted their request and volunteered the event. CRY and LPLF members had an orientation at Sauliere Hall for Shift II students in the morning. Students were divided into separated groups for volunteering the whole event. Over 80 students volunteered the event and helped to make it a grand success. Apart from certificate students also learnt something about sports and child rights. The one-day football match, organised on the occasion of the National Girl Child Day, saw nine corporate teams — HDFC Bank, Vodafone, Trends-in-Vogue, Wabag, Ford, Technip, Ramco Systems, Infosys and iNautix — and a group from the Slum Children Sports Talent Education Development Society (SCSTEDS) in Vyasarpadi battle it out in a round-robin tournament. Mayor Saidai Duraisamy inaugurated the tournament at YMCA grounds in Nandanam. Suma Ravi, Regional director, CRY (South), said, “Soccer for Child Rights is CRY's flagship tournament where children from our project in the Vysarpadi slums participated to prove that sport can change their lives. We are glad the tournament found interest among many in the corporate world and are grateful to them for participating.” In the finals, SCSTEDS beat HDFC (3-0) and won a cash prize of Rs.25,000.

PROFEST (VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF LPLF) (01/03/2015)

The PROFEST event was held on 1st March 2015 at 9 am. The event began with various competitions like essay writing, poem writing and pencil sketching. All were based on the Pro - life theme. Many students actively participated in the events. At the end of events refreshments were served. The chief guests of the function were Rev.Dr.Samuel Jayaseelan SJ and Prof.Francis, Department of English. The chief guests arrived and the valedictory function commenced at 12 noon. The Master of the ceremony was done by H.Emlin vitty vanspaul, women's co-ordinator of LPLF. The chief guest Rev.Dr.Samuel Jayaseelan SJ gave an inspirational speech on Pro-Life. A memento was given to the chief guest by Dr.Merlyn shyla. Jane Tishan, Pro-life President (shift II) gave a memento to Prof.Francis. After an inspirational talk, Pradeepan, treasurer announced the prizes for the winners and it was given by the chief guests. The program came to an end with the National Anthem.
